Hello, horrible humans! Let me tell you about my SECRET KRAMPUS.

Since you're all bad to the bone and you're only going to get coal for Christmas, I thought I'd offer you a consolation prize. 

"A prize?" I hear you ask. Definitely a prize!  I hope it makes you scream and promise to be better people next year. Hahaha!

So what is this prize?

It's a fic or art of your choice, but because I never give away anything for free, you will have to work to get it.

"What do I have to do?" I hear you whimper.

First, you must be + 18 and enter the exchange.  Send me and my goblins your name and email, along with your likes and dislikes. I'll carefully match you with your unlucky recipient and then you get busy. What you produce must be eldritch inspired, so make it weird and sinister or ghostly. Check this if you need to be inspired. Christmas is coming and the goose is getting stuffed. What you stuff it with is entirely up to you.

Rules

Register by November 8th, on or before 5pm PST.

Content must be eldritch themed and related to Supernatural characters or their actors. Crossovers are welcome. Definitely no AI permitted. You must do the creating, because this is a gift. Fic should be at least 1000 words. Art should be at least 1 scary panel. 

Post on or before December 25th at 5pm PST.

ALL artist rough drafts are due on December 10. If I don’t have your art by December 11, I’ll asume that you dropped out. Previews are due on December 15. You can still keep fine-tuning your art until the posting date, but any substantial change has to be made in agreement with your author.

What does eldritch mean?

Eldritch means weird, eerie, strange, or unnatural, especially in a way that inspires fear. The word’s origin comes from a time when otherworldly beings were commonly thought to inhabit the earth. Give us all of your horror fics, your Lovecraftian monsters, your Gothic scenes — the scarier the better.

Can I write and create art for this bang?

Definitely! You may sign up as an artist AND as a writer. You may sign as a Big Bang writer, a Big Bang artist, a Reverse Bang artist, or a Reverse Bang writer. You can do both Bangs but, in this case, it goes without saying that you must still meet your deadlines on both sides. Be judicious and check the schedule below. You may not claim your own work.

No work submitted to this challenge will go down because it wasn’t claimed or your artist/writer didn’t get their part done on time. This challenge is for fun, not to stuff us with more stress than we all already endure. The numbers are not balanced. Sometimes too many or too few artists/writers may sign up or drop out. No writer/artist will be forced to bite more than they can chew by picking one story/art after another. Other times life just… happens. If your artist/writer has been abducted by the Empty, the mods will try to pair you again with a new, willing one. If this is not possible don’t worry, your work will remain in the challenge as it is.

Can I write/art pairings?

Announcing the 28 fic pairings for 2019! By now, everyone should have heard from your partner; if you haven’t, please talk to the mods. Authors, send your artist your work so they can start cranking those creative gears.

On September 15th, we will put up a posting schedule that assigns each pair a day in October. Given our number of fics, posting before October 10th is an option, if both partners would like. If you have schedule requests, please let the mods know before 9/15. The first pair check-in will go up the same day, no drafts required.

Our second pair check-in is October 7th. There will be optional draft submissions for both artists and authors; if your history with deadlines is checkered, consider Draft Day strongly encouraged.

If you’ve signed up as an artist for the 2019 Eldritch Bang, you will also receive the link and claim information by email. Twenty-eight fics in the line-up with a mix of either gen or ships so something for everyone!

It's July 2nd and we've emailed all of our registered writers a link to the Check-in Form.  All we want to know at this point is if you're writing and doing okay. There will be a couple days to get responses in. Thanks to everybody who's already responded; if you didn't see it, check your spam, then let us know if you can't find it. 

The next big date is July 21st; that will be the last day for artists to sign up and the due date for writers to email in their summary information and rough drafts. We'll make a post shortly before with more details about what to submit.

We've been running some sprints in our Discord, which can be a fun way to get words out, if you're on the fence about joining us there! 

After an awesome first year, we’re back for the second SPN Eldritch Bang! Got a great horror story idea you want to write, or would love to create art for a spooky fic? Signups kick off June 1, artists can claim a fic July 28, and posting will take place in October leading up to Halloween. 

This year there will be a mini/big format, with 5k and 15k tracks, in case anybody wants to get started writing early! You can check out our masterlist from last year or our fic and art tag to get inspired.
